SBF Foundation signs MoU to spearhead new initiative, Project MigrantWell

The SBF Foundation, the social impact arm of Singapore Business Federation (SBF), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Estate of Khoo Teck Puat, Estate of Ng Teng Fong and St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital to launch Project MigrantWell.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in November 2021 by Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, Chairman of SBF Foundation; Mr Chia Der Jiun, Second Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower; Dr Arthur Chern, Group CEO, St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital (SAMH) and Singapore Anglican Community Services (SACS); Mr Edward Ng from the Estate of Ng Teng Fong; and Mr James Khoo from the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
 
Also present at the signing ceremony were the Guest-Of-Honour, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam; Minister for Manpower, Dr Tan See Leng; and Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Health, Dr Koh Poh Koon.

Project MigrantWell takes on a holistic approach to support the health and well-being of migrant workers. It will incorporate the establishment of a charity, MigrantWell Singapore, a MigrantWell Welfare Fund and a medical centre at Penjuru which will be operated by St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital.

The Estate of Khoo Teck Puat and Estate of Ng Teng Fong have collectively donated SGD 20 million seed funding. SBF Foundation aims to raise another SGD 15 million towards this cause.
