St. Andrew’s Migrant Worker Medical Centre opening

A Holistic Care for Migrant Workers

MigrantWell was supported by the collaborative effort provided through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on 29 November 2021 between the Ministry of Manpower, Estate of Khoo Teck Puat and Estate of Ng Teng Fong, Singapore Business Federation Foundation and St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital. Together, they have established a dedicated and pandemic-prepared medical facility providing a comprehensive range of primary care services. Aligned with the founding donors’ vision, MigrantWell Singapore oversees the project’s direction and collaborates with SAMH as the service provider. The MigrantWell Welfare Fund is dedicated to complementing care gap services not covered by the Primary Care Plan (PCP).

Providing holistic care for migrant workers

SAMWMC, located within Penjuru Recreation Centre, stands as a testament to the partnership between MigrantWell and SAMH, which has provided affordable and accessible healthcare services to approximately 80,000 migrant workers living in the surrounding areas.

SAMWMC provides essential medical services, including treatment for acute and chronic conditions, point-of-care tests like ECG and urine screening, thorough medical examinations for work pass requirements, radiography services for screening, and crucial vaccinations against COVID-19, Influenza and Chickenpox. The medical centre further reaches beyond its premises with a Mobile Clinical Team offering consultations in dormitories and allowing consultation with a doctor through video calls through telemedicine.

Additionally, charity-subsidised services, such as Dental Care, Rehabilitative Services and Mental Health Counselling, are available at SAMWMC, reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of the migrant worker community . For more information, refer to this brochure.

Since the launch of the PCP on 1 April 2022 until 21 March 2023, SAMWMC has made a substantial impact on the well-being of migrant workers by providing medical examinations, vaccinations, telemedicine and medical follow-ups to support an impressive count of 27,397 migrant workers. This collaborative effort not only establishes a robust healthcare infrastructure for migrant workers but also underscores the purpose-driven partnership between MigrantWell and SAMH, fostering a commitment to holistic care for the underserved.
